This Is Take 11 of "In The Ghetto". Take 23 finally made it on Single (A-Side to "Any Day Now", 4/1969, #3) and LP ("Fom Elvis In Memphis, 6/1969, #13). This Song was recorded January 20th 1969 and overdubbed January 24th/25th 1969, Febraury 22nd 1969 and March 18th 1969. It was written by Mac Davis. Elvis sung this song between August 1969 and August 1970 Live on Stage.
Buddy Holly recorded this Leiber/Stoller song in January 1959, only singing and playing guitar, as a Demo in New York City. In 1968 the song was overdubbed for LP release the following year, on GIANT.
Here we have both versions. Decide yourself which one´s better. In my point of few I think they did a good job on this one (maybe the best work on any Buddy Holly Demo).
